After numerous inquiries from families over the past couple years, we recently reached out to gauge interest in a 7v7/flag football program, and the response was clear: you’ve been looking for "what’s next" for players who have aged out of youth flag but aren't looking for a varsity tackle commitment.

While sports like hockey have Junior Gold and basketball has House leagues, football players have often been left without a place to play. We’re excited to bridge that gap.

In partnership with our sister program, Elk River 7v7, we are officially launching a high school league designed for athletes who want to keep a football in their hands—minus the pads and the heavy time commitment.

Season Details: Eligibility: All boys in grades 9–12 at any high school.  Format: 7v7 competitive league, 7-game season  When: Games held on Sundays.  No Try-outs: Everyone plays

ELK RIVER GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL FLAG FOOTBALL 

We are thrilled to announce that Elk River Flag Football will once again serve as administering organization working in partnership with the Minnesota Vikings for Elk River Girls High Flag Football 2026 season.

In 2025, we celebrated an incredible inaugural season with 25 pioneering young women forming our first-ever Varsity team. To ensure a strong foundation, we focused solely on a Varsity program last year. Following that success, we are excited to announce that for the 2026 season, we are expanding to include both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams!

We plan to begin the first week of April.  Just as in our first season last year our full practice schedule will be TBD because many of the girls that participated last year were multi-sport athletes that had numerous commitments. We will again discuss & work with our players on the best way to work with them & proceed with a practice schedule.

Last season, each team played one doubleheader per week on Sundays for 5 weeks, the following week was the District Playoffs with the following week being the State Championship at the Minnesota Vikings TCO Facility.  Schedule is still TBD but we anticipate something roughly the same.

Elk River NFL Flag Football

Are you ready for some football?

Join the fastest growing youth sport in the country.  This 7-practice/6-game season is held on Sunday's. This is a 5 versus 5, non-contact, recreational league for all boys and girls in Pre-K through 8th Grade.

This is an exceptional program for first time players who want to learn the fundamentals of football. This is also a wonderful opportunity for players who want to continue enhancing their skills before taking the next leap into tackle football. Games will take place between 10:00am - 7:00pm on Sundays (subject to change). Exact schedules will be created and posted 1-2 weeks prior to the season start date. Younger divisions typically play earlier in the day while the older divisions typically play later. Practices take place 30 minutes prior to game time each week to ensure a convenient and fun experience for all! Participants will receive an NFL reversible jersey and flag belt which istheirs to keep!

 There are no try-outs! Everyone participates! Our program relies on volunteer parents to coach our teams! We encourage all parents interested in volunteering to do so during the registration process. We will provide several resources along with a comprehensive coaches meeting to ensure all coaches have a fun and successful season! 

We try to place children on teams according to grade and school to hopefully have classmates playing together.
